The Indian American Muslim Council (IAMC) is pleased to inform that it maintained a booth for two days, at ICNA-MAS’ 2011 Annual convention held over the Memorial Day weekend, in Hartford, Connecticut.
Volunteers from the New Jersey, and Boston chapters manned the booth. The booth provided visitors with IAMC’s vision and projects in form of literature, and DVD’s. The IAMC booth received a steady stream of visitors. Volunteers greeted the visitors and explained the important role IAMC plays for the well being and prosperity of Muslims in India. In addition to visitors of Indian origin, visitors from other nationalities such as Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Turkey, Egypt and of course from the USA, also stopped by at the booth.
“Encountered on the Saffron Agenda” by Subhradeep Chakraborty,DVDs were distributed to potential members. This documentary was also played on a TV in the booth, drawing intense interest from visitors.
To encourage people to sign-up for the IAMC mailing list, a raffle draw was held. An Amazon Kindle was awarded to the lucky winner Mr.Afzal Khan of New York..
We believe the booth was quite successful in generating awareness about IAMC’s various projects. Some visitors are expected to become active volunteers in the near future.
