The Indian American Muslim Council (IAMC – http://www.iamc.com), an advocacy group dedicated to safeguarding India’s pluralist and tolerant ethos, has wished all American Muslims as well as Muslims worldwide, a very joyous and blessed Eid.
The Eid celebrations mark the end of Ramadan, the Islamic sacred month in which all adult Muslims fast from dawn to dusk, as a means of developing self-control and God-consciousness. Muslims worldwide celebrate the day of Eid with special prayers followed by festivities with friends and family.
IAMC has called upon all Muslims to mark this celebration with a renewed resolve to positively impact the societies they live in, through active engagement and community service.
“As Ramadan is a time for self-purification and character development, it is imperative that our heightened God-consciousness is reflected in our interaction with our non-Muslim neighbors”, said Mr. Shaheen Khateeb, President, IAMC. “Let us resolve to inculcate in ourselves Islam’s profound compassion for the human condition, and resolve to work for peace, pluralism and justice”, added Mr. Khateeb.
Indian American Muslim Council (formerly Indian Muslim Council-USA) is the largest advocacy organization of Indian Muslims in the United States with 10 chapters across the nation. For more information please visit our new website at www.iamc.com.
