Bengali-speaking Muslims attacked in Assam amid ethno-religious tensions

Amid calls for economic blockade against Bengali-speaking Muslims and threats against them to leave ethnic Assamese-dominant areas, two Muslims were attacked in Assam’s Baksa district.

Hindu extremists also attempted to strangle a Muslim ice cream seller and stole his day’s earnings. On the same day, Abdul Salam, a Muslim bamboo trader was beaten up. Recently, at least 12 Muslim construction workers were beaten in Sivasagar amid the ethno-religious tensions.

Mob of over 2000 attack Muslim-owned properties, mosques in Telangana

Anti-Muslim violence erupted in Telangana’s Asifabad district, after a mob of 2,000 people began attacking Muslim-owned properties. The violence was triggered by allegations that a Muslim man had sexually assaulted a tribal woman in the district.

Videos circulated on social media show the mob freely targeting Muslim-owned shops in the market with no local law enforcement officials in sight. Videos also show the mob setting commercial establishments on fire and pelting stones at mosques.

The mob was reportedly backed by local Hindu supremacist leaders, who fueled the violence.

Police open fire, arrest Muslim men allegedly planning to slaughter calf 

Police in far-right Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-ruled Uttar Pradesh’s Fatehpur, arrested two Muslim men after firing gunshots at them, resulting in bullet injuries in their legs. Police have alleged that the duo were on their way to slaughter a calf.

The incident is the latest in an ongoing trend of violent attacks against predominantly Muslim cattle traders by law enforcement. Multiple such injuries have occurred on a near-weekly basis due to police firings. 

Muslim men chased, seriously injured over alleged cattle transport

In Deeg, Rajasthan, four Muslim men who were allegedly transporting cattle were chased down and attacked to the point of serious injuries. Photos of the incidents show men wearing saffron scarves at the scene with the injured victims, suggesting that Hindu extremist cow vigilantes were involved in the attack. 

However, police officials claim that the Muslim men were being pursued by their team. 

Hindu extremists attack Muslim driver, non-Muslim handyman over cattle transport

In Sheikhpura, Bihar, Hindu extremist group Antarrashtriya Bajrang Dal leader Sameer Chaudhary harassed and assaulted a Muslim driver and his handyman for transporting cattle. 

Hindu militant mobs regularly attack Muslims over baseless accusations of committing crimes. These mobs, also known as cow vigilantes, assault and often lynch Muslims accused of transporting cattle or consuming beef. 

Hindu extremist poet urges Hindus to prepare for war

In Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, a Hindu extremist poet delivered a dangerous speech with calls to prepare for a war while advocating use of brutal violence. In Hazaribagh, Jharkhand Hindu militant leader Aman Kumar administered a hateful oath to minor children to establish a “Hindu nation”, fight “love jihad”, and throw out Bangladeshi migrants and Rohingya Muslims from India.

In Bikaner, Rajasthan, at an event organized by Hindu militant groups Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal, a religious preacher called for arming Hindus against non-Hindus.
