Driver shot dead while being chased by police over suspected cow theft in Rajasthan

A van driver was shot dead while being chased by police over suspected cow theft in Rajasthan. Police, however, claimed that the victim was shot by another group of cow smugglers.  

In another incident in Pali, Rajasthan, Hindu extremist cow vigilantes assaulted an elderly truck driver for transporting cattle.

Nine-year-old Dalit student beaten by teacher for refusing to pluck fruits

A school teacher in Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly locked a nine-year-old Dalit student in a classroom and beat him after he refused to pluck fruits for the teacher inside the school premises.

The accused teacher, Rani Gangwar, has been suspended.

Hindu militants protest against reconstruction of centuries-old mosque on Waqf land

Tension continued for the second straight day in Telangana’s Moinabad after members of the Hindu militant group Bajrang Dal staged a protest demanding that the newly laid base for the reconstruction of a historic mosque be razed. 

The mosque stands on Waqf land — state-owned land dedicated for religious and charitable purposes.
