Hindu extremist leader Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati declared at an event in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh that Hindus must take a vow and fight for the protection of cows, implying that Muslims and Dalits, who make up the majority of beef-consumers in India, must be killed. He urged, “Come out in thousands; do not ask for those slaughtering cows to be hanged – kill them yourselves and demand to be hanged.”

Hindu extremist monk Yati Narsinghanand, known for repeatedly calling for mass violence against Muslims, sent a letter allegedly written in blood to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, demanding that the state make it easier for Hindus to obtain gun licenses in order to “safeguard their religion” against Muslims.
