Modi calls Muslims “infiltrators” in Islamophobic election rally speech
As part of his campaign for re-election, India’s Hindu supremacist Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave a blatantly Islamophobic speech in which he called Muslims “infiltrators” – signifying that they do not belong in India – and claimed that they “have more children”, a false Hindu supremacist conspiracy that claims Muslim population growth is replacing Hindus.
Modi was claiming that India’s opposition party, if voted to power, would distribute the nation’s wealth among Muslims, another blatantly anti-Muslim statement.
BJP leaders deliver anti-Muslim hate speeches in election rallies
In Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, far-right BJP lawmaker Sakshi Maharaj delivered a communal speech targeting Muslims and called for a population control bill.
“They have four wives and produce forty children. It won’t be tolerated anymore,” Sakshi said.
In Amravati, Maharashtra, BJP election candidate Navneet Rana delivered a communal speech. “If you want to live in India, then you have to say ‘Jai Sri Ram’,” she told the crowd. In Batala, Punjab, BJP leader Ashwini Upadhyay advocated for violence against minorities in India and promoted fear and hatred towards Christians.
Hindu extremist leader administers public oath to turn India into a Hindu nation
In Pune, Maharashtra, at an event organized by Hindu militant groups Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal, Hindu extremist news editor Suresh Chavhanke and monk Swami Bhartanand Saraswati delivered anti-Muslim speeches. Chavhanke promoted conspiracy theories, called for boycott of Muslims, and administered an oath to turn India into a Hindu nation.
In Sirohi, Rajasthan, Hindu supremacist monk Nilesh Chandra Maharaj promoted anti-Muslim conspiracy theories and called for a Hindu takeover of historic mosques. In Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, a Hindu supremacist leader delivered a communal speech promoting animosity towards Muslims.
Hindu processions play provocative anti-Muslim songs outside mosques
During a Hindu religious procession in BJP-ruled Gujarat, Hindu extremists blasted provocative anti-Muslim songs in front of two mosques in Mehsana and Bardoli cities. “Muslims will also bow and chant Jai Sri Ram,” the lyrics declared.
In Morbi, a Hindu religious procession halted outside a Muslim shrine, and Islamophobic slogans were chanted by a Hindu woman on the microphone.
Police open fire at alleged “cattle smuggler,” victims sustain bullet wound
In Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad, police fired gunshots at an alleged “cattle smuggler,” who sustained a bullet injury in his leg.
The incident is the latest in an ongoing trend of violent attacks against predominantly Muslim cattle traders by law enforcement. Over the last few months, multiple such injuries have occurred due to police firing.
