Muslim laborers from West Bengal stripped and beaten in Assam

In far-right BJP-ruled Assam’s Sivasagar, 12 Muslim laborers from West Bengal state were stripped, beaten, and forced to chant slogans praising Assam and local indigenous organizations. The victims have filed a police complaint against BJP leader Mayur Borgohain, alleging that he owes them around $17,000 for their work, which they believe could have motivated the attack.

Recently, in Sivasagar, Assamese ethno-nationalist groups launched a campaign targeting Bengali-speaking Muslims, demanding that the Muslim families vacate their homes within a week.

Hindu militants harass Muslim girls for offering prayers in school

Hindu militants from the Bajrang Dal threatened and harassed Muslim girls for offering prayers at a school in Telangana, according to a letter by Muslim leader Amjed Ullah Khan to the state’s Chief Minister.  

Khan also shared videos of the Hindu militants inside the school premises when girls were offering prayers. In the videos, they are seen interrogating the girls about who gave permission for praying in the school. In another video, they are seen arguing with the school authorities.

Police have taken no action so far. 

Hindu residents create ruckus over Qur’an recitation in neighbouring flat

Hindu residents of a housing complex in BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad created a commotion over the recitation of the Qur’an by some madrasa students in one of the neighboring apartments.

The students had been invited for a recitation event in the apartment, which was held by a Muslim woman in the hopes of blessing her sick daughter.

The Hindu residents, however, accused the family of attempting to convert the flat into a madrasa and went on to baselessly claim that the recitation can’t be held without permission from authorities. Police officials have registered a complaint against the students who recited the Qur’an. 

Hindu extremists assault truck drivers, extort money over alleged cattle transport

In Mahoba, Uttar Pradesh, a truck driver accused cow vigilantes from the Hindu militant group Bajrang Dal of assaulting truck drivers transporting cattle and extorting money from them. He also provided evidence to support his claims.

In Haryana, cow vigilantes attacked a truck driver and his handyman, and vandalized their vehicle for transporting cattle.

Muslim suspected of cow slaughter drowns during chase, locals say police pushed him

In BJP-ruled Uttarakhand’s Haridwar, police officials have claimed that a Muslim man suspected of being involved in cow slaughter drowned in a pond while trying to run away from the police.

Local residents, however, said that the man was beaten and pushed into the pond by the police. They held a protest and refused to hand over the body to the police for a post mortem. 

There is an ongoing trend of violent attacks against predominantly Muslim cattle traders by law enforcement in Uttarakhand. Over the last few months, multiple injuries have occurred due to police firing.
