Muslim-owned hospital, shops, vehicles arsoned by extremist mobs in Uttar Pradesh
Hindu extremist mobs arsoned Muslim-owned shops, vehicles, a private hospital and other properties in Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-ruled Uttar Pradesh’s Bahraich. The mobs, armed with sticks and iron rods, roamed the streets, protesting the death of Hindu man during communal clashes.
A video of the deceased, Gopal Mishra, shows him on the roof of a building breaking a green flag and then aggressively waving a saffron flag as a mob, egging him on from the street below, shouted Hindu supremacist slogans. He was later killed due to a bullet injury. The police have arrested 30 Muslims in connection with Mishra’s killing.
Further stoking communal tensions, a BJP lawmaker shared a list of Muslim journalists’ names on social media, baselessly casting doubts over their impartial coverage of the incident.

According to reports from local residents, Hindu extremist mobs surrounded the Rauza mosque in BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh’s Barabanki during a Hindu religious ceremony and danced to the beats of offensive Hindu supremacist pop songs.
They also threw shoes and beer cans in the courtyard of the mosque in an attempt to demean the Muslim community and insult their faith.
Muslims losing jobs in eateries after controversial rules on name display
Following the introduction of a controversial policy in BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh requiring eateries to publicly display the names of all employees, several Muslims have reported job losses and the potential closure of their businesses.
A report in the UK-based The Guardian, said that several business owners reported that they have had to dismiss Muslim employees out of fear for their safety.
In July, the Supreme Court blocked a separate order requiring restaurants along a pilgrimage route to display owners’ names, labeling it discriminatory.
