22-year-old Muslim man abducted and beaten to death in Rajasthan
Zahid, a 22-year-old Muslim was abducted and beaten to death in Rajasthan’s Jhunjhunu.
The kidnappers released Zahid two hours after he was abducted, leaving him severely injured. He died a week later during treatment.
Former minister Rajendra Singh Gudha expressed solidarity with the family, saying, “The only crime Zahid committed was that he was a Muslim. He was abducted and killed. It is so unjust that the administration didn’t file any complaint even after five days.”
Several BJP leaders surrender in case related to 2013 anti-Muslim violence
Several BJP leaders and others surrendered before an Uttar Pradesh court pertaining to cases against them for their alleged involvement in the 2013 anti-Muslim violence in Muzaffarnagar. More than 60 people were killed, and over 40,000 people, overwhelmingly Muslims, were displaced due to the violence.
Twenty people, including sitting BJP lawmakers, are being prosecuted. The accused allegedly participated in a meeting that provoked violence and violated constraint orders through their speeches in August 2013.
Hindu supremacists disrupt Christian gathering with Hindu prayer chants
In Chattisgarh’s Rajnandgaon, members of the Hindu militant group Bajrang Dal disrupted a Christian prayer meeting. The mob attacked while reciting Hanuman Chalisa, a Hindu prayer hymn, and accusing the worshippers of forcing Hindus to convert to Christianity. The gathering was then cleared out by police.
