BJP candidate demands Muslim women lift face veil at polling booth

The Bharatiya Janata Party’s candidate in Hyderabad, Madhavi Latha, demanded that Muslim women wearing a niqab (face veil) lift their veils at a polling booth. In a viral video, she is seen inspecting the identity cards of Muslim women and asking them to show their faces.

In April, Latha had mimed shooting an arrow at a mosque during a Hindu religious procession.
