Hindu extremists assault on 72-year-old Muslim man on moving train

In a case that has shocked India, Hindu extremists assaulted an elderly Muslim man on a train after they accused him of eating beef. The extremists punched the man in the face, chest, and stomach, hurled anti-Muslim abuses, stole his phone, and recorded the assault on mobile phone before posting it on social media. They also threatened to kill him and rape the women of his family if he complained to the police.

The victim was carrying buffalo meat. The consumption of buffalo meat is legal in Maharashtra. Four men have been arrested for the assault. 

Hindu extremists lynch Muslim ragpicker to death after accusing him of cooking beef 

A Hindu extremist mob lynched a Muslim migrant worker from West Bengal to death by after they accused him of consuming  beef. The victim, 22-year-old Sabir Malik, had come to Haryana to work as a ragpicker and was living with his wife and two-year-old daughter.

Hours before the mob lynching, Hindu extremists had called the police claiming that beef was being cooked and consumed in the nearby shanties. Even as the meat was seized by the police and sent for testing, the assailants beat Sabir to death. Police have arrested seven extremists, including two juveniles. 

Hindu supremacists attack Christian worshippers, disrupt prayer meeting

In Bihar’s Nawada, a mob of Hindu supremacists assaulted Christian worshippers and disrupted their prayer meeting, accusing attendees of engaging in forcibly converting Hindus to Christianity. 

Attacks on Christians have become common under several Indian states’ draconian anti-conversion laws, which criminalize conversion away from Hinduism. D.C.-based human rights group International Christian Concern has named India among the top 10 countries persecuting Christians in its 2023 Persecutors of the Year Report. 

Hind extremists tie up, assault truck driver over alleged beef transport

In Cuttack, Odisha, Hindu extremist cow vigilantes tied up a truck driver and his handyman with rope and assaulted them for allegedly transporting beef.

Hindu militant mobs regularly attack Muslims over baseless accusations of committing crimes. These mobs, also known as cow vigilantes, assault and often lynch Muslims accused of transporting cattle or consuming beef. 

Hindu extremist leader harasses Muslim men for walking around his locality

In Rajkot, Gujarat, Hindu extremist leader Kamlesh Patel harassed and intimidated three Muslim men with a rod, hurled anti-Muslim slurs at them, and called the police on them for merely walking around in the locality.

Police book six Christians over alleged forced conversion

In Betul, Madhya Pradesh, police have booked six Christians over allegations of forcibly converting Hindus to Christianity. 

Christians across states have been arrested under India’s draconian anti-conversion law, which criminalizes conversion away from Hinduism.
