Hindu paramilitary leader asks Muslims to voluntarily hand over mosques to Hindus
A leader of the Hindu extremist paramilitary group Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has declared that Muslims and other religious minorities should voluntarily hand over all “disputed religious sites” to Hindus, referring to centuries-old mosques that Hindu extremists routinely and often baselessly claim were built on temple ruins.
Prominent mosques under threat of demolition and Hinduization include the Shahi Eidgah and Gyanvapi Mosque in Uttar Pradesh state.
Far-right group to organize nationwide rally for destruction of Shahi Eidgah mosque
A Hindu extremist group, the Hindu Mahasabha, has announced plans to organize a nationwide rally to destroy the Shahi Eidgah mosque in BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura and replace it with a temple. Recently, BJP leader Jai Bhagwan Goyal issued an ultimatum to Muslims and called for demolition of the historic mosque, threatening a repeat of the violent 1992 demolition of the historic Babri Masjid.
Hindu militants barge into Christian prayer meeting, harass worshippers
In Chattisgarh state, Hindu extremists from the Hindu militant group Bajrang Dal disrupted a Christian prayer meeting and harassed the worshippers. Recently, a D.C.-based human rights group International Christian Concern named India among the top 10 countries persecuting Christians in its 2023 Persecutors of the Year Report.
