IMC-USA Condemns Series of Explosions in Srinagar and Jama Masjid
April 15, 2006
Indian Muslim Council – USA (http://www.imc-usa.org), an advocacy group dedicated to promoting pluralism in India and the US, condemned the series of explosions in Srinagar, the capital of Jammu and Kashmir and in the most famous Mosque in India the Delhi Jama Masjid that killed 5 and injured scores of innocent civilians including worshipers. IMC-USA urges a high-level investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice.
Dr. Shaik Ubaid, President of IMC-USA said "these violent acts point towards a pattern by extremist groups to undermine communal harmony in India and to polarize the nation for the political benefit of the extremist parties. Earlier in April, lack of proper handling of sensitive issues by the local administration resulted in the deaths of several Muslim youth in the city of Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh. The victims were allegedly shot by the provincial police, which has historically been notorious for its mishandling of minorities."
IMC-USA congratulates all Indians, especially the Muslim community for showing tremendous restraint.
Referring to the bomb blasts in the city of Nanded Dr. Ubaid expressed his concern about the home-grown terrorism. Indian media has reported that according to police officials in Nanded, militants from Bajrang Dal, a terrorist Hindu group were actually making a bomb that exploded. The bomb blasts have occurred on the eve of Hindutva supremo Lal Krishna Advani’s campaign of nationwide marches called Bharat Suraksha Yatra.. Dr Ubaid reminded that it was Mr. Advani’s Yatra that created the conditions in which the historic Babri Masjid was demolished in 1992 by the Hindutva militants. Dr. Ubaid also reminded that in the aftermath of Babri Masjid demolition more than 2000 Muslims were massacred in Bombay and other cities of India.
Hindutva is a fascist movement that was founded in 1920’s on the model of Mussolini’s Fascist Party and later adopted Hitler’s model of Final Solution for its genocidal policies against the Muslim and Christian minorities of India. Hindutva movement operates many fronts and has spread its tentacles world wide. Some of the Hindutva activities in the US can be researched on the website www.coalitionagainstgenocide.org.
