August 15, 2006
Indian Muslim Council-USA congratulates all Indians and people of Indian descent as well as those who love India on the occasion of the 59th anniversary of India’s independence.
Dr. Shaik Ubaid, congratulated the members and supporters of IMC-USA on the fourth anniversary of the organization’s launch and urged them to remain steadfast in their mission. IMC-USA was launched on August 15, 2002 as an advocacy organization to protect and promote pluralism.
According to the IMC-USA’s annual tradition, Dr. Ubaid invited all Indians to take a solemn pledge to work to make India a great country where poverty, social injustice, religious intolerance and corruption are no longer allowed to prevent the nation from achieving its glorious and rightful place in the world. Dr. Ubaid said that the great nation of India which was once the world’s envy because of its rich diversity and prosperity is a work in progress and therefore, IMC-USA will remain steadfast and consistent in its annual Independence Day message.
"Indian Muslims who are the single largest religious minority in the world are committed to the idea and dream of India as envisioned by its founders- Gandhi, Nehru, Ambedkar and Azad, said Dr. Ubaid. After all it was under the Muslim rule that the region was united as a single political entity. Muslims have contributed to the economic and civilizational revival of India in the middle ages and were in the forefront of the freedom struggle. We will continue to work to make India a better place and a greater country," proclaimed Dr. Ubaid.
