Murder FIR against Haryana cops as youth dies days after custody
Police in Haryana’s Nuh have registered a case against “11-12 police personnel” from Faridabad in the death of a 24-year-old man, Junaid, following a complaint from his family that he had succumbed to injuries inflicted while in their custody….
In her complaint to police, Junaid’s mother…. alleged that they took Junaid and his companions to the station, from where he was released the next day after his family paid Rs 70,000 to the police personnel. Junaid’s companions, she alleged, were also released after payment of similar amounts. Her complaint also alleged that Junaid and his companions had injury marks when they were released, and that police personnel made Junaid and his brother, Irsad, who had gone to get him released, “sign many blank papers”.
The SHO threatened Junaid that if he took any action against police or got his “medical…done”, he would “put the entire family in the same condition as Junaid”, the complaint alleged. When Junaid returned home, his mother alleged, he confided that he had been beaten on his legs and all over his body…. “Before reaching the hospital, because of the injuries on his body which had been inflicted by Faridabad Police, Junaid died,” the complaint stated….
