A Christian priest committed suicide after he was booked by police in Madhya Pradesh state for sharing a post on the violence against Christians in Manipur on social media.
Father Anil Francis, a Syro Malabar Church priest, was booked a month ago under pressure from Hindu extremist groups. The complaint itself was filed by one of his former students, who falsely claimed that Father Francis had insulted the Indian flag in what was registered as a criminal defamation complaint.

In Rajnandgaon, the Hindu militant groups Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal organized a rally indulging in fear-mongering by promoting the bogey of rising Muslim population and “love jihad.” In Raipur, Chhattisgarh, Bajrang Dal leader Neeraj Doneria delivered a hate speech against Muslims and Islam while addressing a crowd of over 1,000 Hindu extremists.
In Ashoknagar, Madhya Pradesh, a Hindu far-right leader spread anti-Muslim conspiracy theories and gave open calls for violence during an event organized by the Bajrang Dal. In Betul, a VHP-Bajrang Dal leader peddled anti-Muslim and anti-Christian conspiracy theories.
