Muslim man lynched to death by Hindu extremists in Bihar
In Bihar, a Muslim man, Altaf Ansari, was lynched to death by a violent Hindu extremist mob after a dispute over a bike collision. Police have yet to arrest any of the extremists responsible for the murder. The murder comes just days after Mohammad Iqbal, an 18-year-old Muslim resident of Rajasthan’s Jaipur was lynched by a mob of around 40–50 violent Hindu extremists.
Violent cow vigilantes harass Muslim man for carrying a packet of beef
In Ludhiana, Punjab, violent cow vigilantes harassed a Muslim man and filed a police complaint against him, alleging he was carrying a small packet of beef. Hindu militant mobs have increasingly been targeting Muslims over baseless accusations of committing crimes. These mobs, also known as cow vigilantes, attack and often lynch Muslims accused of transporting cattle or consuming beef.
Far-right Hindu leader says only those who say “Jai Sri Ram” can live in India
During an ongoing series of anti-Muslim hate speech events organized by Hindu militant groups Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal, a far-right Hindu leader in Bhagalpur, Bihar, said that Muslims need to praise Hindu deity Ram in order to be able to live in India. “If you want to live in India, you must say Jai Shri Ram. Descendants of Babur and Aurangzeb [Mughal rulers] will be sent to Pakistan.”
In BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, Hindu extremist leaders demonized Muslims, peddled conspiracy theories, and advocated violence against them.
