Muslim man assaulted after lodging police complaint against Hindu extremists

Hindu extremists in Gujarat assaulted a Muslim man, Wasim Shaikh, who lodged a police complaint against a mob of 21 Hindu extremists who looted and burnt Muslim-owned shops in Narmada, Gujarat. Earlier this month, Hindu extremists pelted stones at Muslim-owned properties amid police presence during a religious procession organized by Hindu militant group Bajrang Dal.

Shaikh had previously informed the police that he was receiving threats for trying to hold Hindu extremists accountable, but police took no action to protect him. 

Terror-accused BJP leader threatens safety of Muslim women during hate speech

In Palghar, Maharashtra, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) lawmaker accused of terrorism, Pragya Singh Thakur, delivered a hate speech targeting Muslims and other minorities. She peddled conspiracy theories against Muslims and threatened the safety of Muslim women

“If our daughters are not safe, then yours won’t be safe either,” she threatened, implying that Hindu women are threatened by “Love Jihad,” a baseless conspiracy theory that demonizes Muslim men. 

Thakur is one of the prime accused in a terrorist bomb attack in 2008, during which six persons were killed and 100 injured near a mosque in Malegaon city. She was voted into office despite illegally using anti-Muslim hate speech to gain Hindu votes.

BJP leader attends Hindu militant group’s event, praises shrine demolitions in Uttarakhand

In BJP-ruled Uttrakhand, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami peddled anti-Muslim conspiracy theories of “land jihad” and “love jihad” while speaking at an event organized by Hindu militant group Bajrang Dal event. He also proudly proclaimed that his government had demolished hundreds of Muslim shrines.

 Last month, multiple videos surfaced, showing Hindu extremists utilizing sledgehammers to demolish Muslim shrines, including the domes, while shouting the Hindu supremacist slogan “jai shri ram.”

Hate speech, calls for violence against Muslims continue throughout India

In Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh, Hindu supremacist leader Arpit Gupta delivered hate speech against Muslims and called on Hindus to follow the footsteps of Nathuram Godse, the Hindu supremacist who killed India’s freedom icon Mahatma Gandhi.

In Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, a Hindu supremacist leader promoted anti-Muslim hatred during an event organized by Hindu militant group Bajrang Dal. In Hamirpur, Bajrang Dal leader Neeraj Doneria delivered a hate speech demonizing Muslims and Christians. In Uttrakhand, Hindu extremist leaders made open calls for violence against Muslims.
