Muslim man lynched to death by Hindu mob during cricket match in Gujarat
In yet another horrific mob lynching case, twenty-three-year-old Salman Vohra, who had gone to watch a cricket tournament match in Chikhodra, Gujarat, was mercilessly beaten to death by a mob of Hindu extremists. Witnesses report that the mob attacked Salman because of his identity, angered by the fact that Muslim players were excelling in the match.
Salman’s body had marks on his right hand, cuts below his eyes, and his ear was brutally damaged—almost bitten off by the attackers. A knife wound damaged his kidney, which was the most severe injury. He was also beaten on his lower waist and neck, causing significant bleeding. Salman was newly married, and his wife is a month pregnant.
Two other Muslim men were also injured in the attack. One received around 17 stitches, and the other around 7 stitches.
Muslim mechanic lynched to death by mob over allegations of theft
A Muslim mechanic, Irshad Alam, was lynched to death by a mob in West Bengal’s Kolkata after he was accused of stealing a cell phone. A mob of 14 people beat him with heavy bats and sticks in a hostel. He died of his injuries within three hours of being brought to a local hospital.
Alam’s family and neighbors have denied allegations of theft and are demanding strict punishment for the accused.
11 days after death by lynching, Muslim man charged with dacoity, assault of woman
Eleven days after Mohammad Farid, was lynched to death by a Hindu supremacist mob in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, over suspicion of theft, a complaint was lodged against the deceased victim, his brother, and five others on charges of dacoity and assaulting a woman.
A mob of over 12 people had checked to see if the victim was Muslim by removing his pants to see if he was circumcised. After confirming his identity, the mob fatally punched, kicked and beat Farid with batons and hockey sticks.
Indian Muslim cricket player faces online abuse after thanking Allah for T20 World Cup victory
Following India’s victory in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, Indian cricket player Mohammed Siraj was trolled and abused on social media for his “Thank you almighty Allah” tweet. Siraj shared a photograph of his team lifting the World Cup trophy and wrote, “Thank you almighty Allah.”
Siraj’s religious expression of gratitude for the victory was met with anti-Muslim vitriol from Hindu supremacist users.
Police open fire at alleged “cattle smugglers,” victims sustain bullet wounds
In Uttar Pradesh’s Kushinagar, police fired gunshots at two alleged “cattle smugglers,” who sustained bullet injuries in their legs.
The incident is the latest in an ongoing trend of violent attacks against predominantly Muslim cattle traders by law enforcement. Multiple such injuries have occurred on a near-weekly basis due to police firings.
