Muslim men beaten by Hindu extremists, paraded carrying butchered cattle meat

A mob of Hindu extremists intercepted four trucks and a car that were allegedly transporting beef from Bengaluru, Karnataka. They evicted the Muslim men in the car and set it on fire. The extremists then humiliated the Muslim men by forcibly parading them carrying the upper parts of the butchered animals on their heads, while they raised Hindu extremist slogans and took videos. 

Hindu militant mobs have increasingly been targeting Muslims over baseless accusations of committing crimes. These mobs, also known as cow vigilantes, attack and often lynch Muslims accused of transporting cattle or consuming beef. 

Muslim women attacked by Hindu mob over Milad-un-Nabi decorations

In Indore, Madhya Pradesh, a mob of Hindu extremists assaulted Muslim women who had decorated the area for celebrating Milad un Nabi. The Hindu mob objected to the festive decorations and turned violent when the Muslim women attempted to prevent the removal of the decorations.

Modi’s party linked with most hate speech in India, report finds

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ruling party and affiliated groups were behind most hate speech events against Muslims during the first half of the year, according to a report released by Hindutva Watch, a Washington DC-based research group that tracks hate crimes.

Some 80% of the 255 documented incidents of “hate speech gatherings targeting Muslims” occurred in Bharatiya Janata Party-ruled states and union territories.

Karnataka: Hindu extremists raise saffron flags on mosques, threaten to demolish them

During a Hindu religious rally in Gulbarga, Karnataka, a song titled “We will build a temple here” was played in front of a mosque. In Maski, a Hindu extremist mob danced to another anti-Muslim song, “We will not rest until a temple is built.” The mob then climbed over a mosque and waved a saffron flag, the color that symbolizes the Hindu supremacist movement. In Bidar, a saffron flag was tied to a stick and placed on one of the minarets of the mosque. 

Muslim farmer killed, another injured in police vehicle hit-and-run

Two Muslim farmers, Samiullah Ansari, and his cousin, Hamid Ansari, were hit by a police vehicle in Deoria district of far-right Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-ruled Uttar Pradesh state, leaving the former dead and the latter severely injured.

Hamid recalled, “After the car hit us, it didn’t stop to offer help… both the car and the driver left us there and fled the scene. If they had helped us, Samiullah might still be alive.”

Hindu militant leader says Muslims, Christians must convert to Hinduism to live in India

In Solapur, Maharashtra, Hindu militant group Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Anirudh Pandit said that Muslims and Christians should only be allowed to stay in India if they convert to Hinduism. He also peddled anti-Muslim conspiracy theories and praised violent cow vigilantism.

In Bhilwara, Rajasthan, VHP leader Surendra Jain delivered hate speech against Muslims and threatened violence against them.
