Muslim police officer suspended for sharing post on Palestine

A Muslim police officer, Suhail Ansari, in far-right BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh state, has been suspended and a departmental inquiry has been initiated against him for sharing a post in support of Palestine on a social media platform.

Recently, a 20-year-old Muslim man from Karnataka was arrested for posting a WhatsApp status that expressed support for Palestine. Four Muslim students from Aligarh Muslim University in Uttar Pradesh were booked for protesting Israel’s ongoing human rights violations against Palestine. 

Indian fans chant ‘Jai Sri Ram’ at Pakistani cricketer Muhammad Rizwan 

In a Cricket World Cup match between India and Pakistan held in far-right Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-ruled Gujarat state, Indian fans shouted Hindu supremacist slogans like “Jai Sri Ram” at Pakistani wicketkeeper Muhammad Rizwan as he walked back to the pavilion.

The incident occurred as Rizwan was making his way through the aisle after being bowled out by Indian pacer, Jasprit Bumrah. 

X account of Muslim journalist who reports on hate crimes withheld in India 

The X account of Meer Faisal, an award-winning Muslim journalist who extensively reports on hate crimes in India, was ‘withheld’ in India based on a request from the far-right Hindu supremacist federal government. A message displayed on the account says that the action has been taken “in response to a legal demand.”

Meer has a following of over 50k on X, and his news stories are frequently covered by various media outlets, with some having a significant impact.

Hindu militants engage in fear-mongering to turn Hindus against Muslims 

In Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, leaders of Hindu militant groups Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal peddled conspiracy theories and indulged in fear-mongering against Muslims.

In Dwarka, New Delhi, Surendra Jain, a VHP leader, weaponized history to target Muslims.

In West Bengal, far-right Hindu leader Rajni Thakural delivered hate speech against Muslims and their faith at an event organized by Antarrashtriya Hindu Parishad.
