Muslim student bullied over skullcap, forced to leave college premises

At a college in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, Hindu extremist students bullied a Muslim student, snatched the skullcap from his head, and tried to beat him. The Hindu extremists also raised Hindu religious slogans and forced him to leave the college premises. The skullcap is a religious headpiece that is mainly worn by Muslim men all around the world.

Uttar Pradesh school sets question paper on “Indian Muslim terrorism”

A school in Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh faced backlash after a question in its grade 9 Hindi language examination linked Indian Muslims with violence by using the term “Indian Muslim Terrorism.”

The contentious question was part of a comprehension exercise on terrorism. It translates to, “It is part of an ideology in which Indian Muslim terrorism, Lashkar-e-Taiba, Al Qaeda, Taliban, and various organizations of Islamic politics are included.” The inclusion of the term “Indian Muslim Terrorism” in the question has led to accusations of insensitivity and promoting prejudice against Muslims. 

Hindu extremist leader urges use of brutal violence against people transporting cattle

In Jaipur, Rajasthan, far-right Hindu group Mahila Gau Raksha Dal President Sadhvi Kamal encouraged cow vigilantes to use brutal violence against people transporting cattle.

As a result of such speeches, Hindu militant mobs have increasingly been targeting Muslims over baseless accusations of committing crimes. These mobs, also known as cow vigilantes, attack and often lynch Muslims accused of transporting cattle or consuming beef.
