Muslim police official accuses BJP leader of making islamophobic remarks
A Muslim police officer has filed a complaint against far-right BJP leader Akshata Tendulkar for making derogatory remarks against Muslims in Maharashtra’s Mumbai.
According to the officer, Tendulkar approached him while he was on duty, demanding that he address an incident of illegal parking. However, she also falsely claimed that the individuals responsible were from Bangladesh and Pakistan, and claimed they were involved in violence in Bangladesh. A video of the incident shows Tendulkar throwing vegetables from a vendor’s cart onto the road and threatening to vandalize them.
In addition to this, Tendulkar reportedly disrupted a Christian prayer meeting in the past, accusing the attendees of forcibly converting Hindus to Christianity.
Madhya Pradesh makes it mandatory to include books authored by RSS leaders in college
The far-right BJP-led Madhya Pradesh government has made it mandatory for colleges across the state to incorporate books written by leaders of the Hindu paramilitary group Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) into their curriculum.
A directive has been issued by the Department of Higher Education instructing college administrations to purchase a set of 88 books authored by RSS-affiliated individuals.
This move comes amidst nationwide attempts to Hinduize the Indian education system. Last year, India’s federal education body removed numerous sections from textbooks including parts on the Muslim-ruled Mughal empire, democracy, and popular movements.
