Three Muslim men acquitted over lack of evidence for terror-related charges
A court in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad has acquitted three Muslims in a case related to a bomb last at a railway station in 2006, noting a lack of evidence against them. The three exonerated men have been imprisoned for over 15 years with two of them arrested in 2006, and the other in 2009.
“There is no evidence from any witness that suggests the accused played any role in planning or executing the bomb blast. Similarly, the documentary evidence presented by the complainant does not seem to support their allegations,” the verdict stated.
Hundreds of individuals from the Muslim community have been acquitted in cases related to bomb blasts and terrorism across the country. In January last year, a court acquitted six Muslim men booked under terror charges, after nearly 20 years.
