Muslims pelted with stones at taraweeh

In Ahmedabad, Gujarat, Muslims reported being attacked with stones by Hindu supremacists while heading to congregational night prayers, known as taraweeh. Witnesses reported that the extremists specifically targeted those wearing skull caps, including children, and that masked men also hurled stones at homes. Some residents alleged they were forced to chant slogans at knifepoint. Locals claim such attacks happen every Ramadan, yet authorities take no action against the perpetrators.

Assam Health Minister uses slur, seeks ban on Muslim vendors at Hindu festivals

Assam Health Minister and far-right Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) politician Ashok Singhal referred to Bengali-speaking Muslims by the slur “Miya”, sparking outrage. In a speech, Singhal called for banning Muslims from running shops during Hindu festivals. In a viral video, the BJP MLA declared, “Don’t give it to Miyas. Give it to our youths. How can Miyas enter our festival?” 

Hindu extremists blast threatening anti-Muslim songs at rally

In Godda, Jharkhand, members of the Hindu militant groups Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Durga Vahini held a rally, brandishing swords and playing songs declaring, “Ayodhya was just a glimpse; Kashi and Mathura are next.” The songs referred to the 1992 demolition of the historic Babri Masjid in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, after which a Hindu temple was built on top; Kashi and Mathura are two more sites of historic mosques that Hindu supremacists have sought to turn into temples.
