Officials demolish Muslim-owned shops after anti-Muslim violence in Rajasthan
In Rajasthan’s Bhilwara, civic officials demolished at least 24 Muslim-owned shops and businesses and threatened to demolish a mosque. Viral videos capture Hindu mobs cheering and celebrating while officials demolished Muslim properties.
The action came after the Hindu extremist mobs had already vandalized and looted Muslim-owned properties, and hurled stones at Muslim residences, following allegations that stones were pelted at a Hindu procession passing by a mosque.
Minors detained for waving Palestinian flag, after protests by Hindu militants
Six minors have been detained and interrogated in Karnataka after a video of them raising the Palestinian flag surfaced on social media platforms. Police officials also seized the minors’ motorbikes along with the flag.
Hindu militants from the Bajrang Dal and members of the far-right Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) also staged a protest, demanding action against the individuals involved.
Seven engineering students expelled from college hostel for cooking beef
Seven students from an engineering college in Odisha’s Berhampur were expelled from their hostel for allegedly cooking beef. College authorities issued an order, stating that the seven students were expelled for being involved in “restricted activities.” Hindu militants from the Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) have demanded “strong action” against the students.
Hindu extremists mark shops rented by Muslims with red paint in Himachal Pradesh
In Himachal Pradesh’s Solan, shops rented out by Muslims were marked with red paint during an anti-Muslim rally. Several anti-muslim slogans were also raised during the rally, demanding expulsion of Muslims.
Over the past year, Hindu extremist leaders have demanded boycotts against Muslims and urged Hindus not to rent homes and shops to the minority group.
Hindu extremist rallies dehumanize, call for violence against Muslims
In Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly, referred to non-Hindus as “insects” and urged Hindus “to fight with the enemies to take the land that is rightfully theirs.” In Jharkhand, BJP leader Champai Soren made false claims about Bangladeshi immigrants and said he would “remove them like removing flies from milk.”
In Rajasthan’s Jaipur, Hindu extremist leader Lalit Rathore urged Hindus to take up arms: “Are you ready to take up arms to eliminate the non-Hindus?” he said. In Himachal Pradesh’s Sujanpur, anti-Muslim slogans were raised in a rally organized by the VHP, calling for physically assaulting Muslims and those who protect them.
