Over 200 houses including Muslim shrine demolished by officials in Gujarat
Civic officials in Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-ruled Gujarat’s Okha carried out a demolition drive, illegally using bulldozers to demolish approximately 200 structures. The demolition included the destruction of several houses and a few religious structures, including the Hazrat Panj Pir Dargah, a popular Muslim shrine.
The demolition of Muslim shrines across India has been widespread. Muslims have accused the far-right government of selectively targeting their shrines under the guise of removing encroachments.
Cow vigilantes harass Muslim drivers despite proof stating it wasn’t cow meat
In BJP-ruled Assam’s Rangia, Hindu extremist cow vigilantes physically harassed two Muslim drivers of a pickup truck, accusing them of smuggling cow meat, despite the drivers repeatedly asserting that the meat was from a buffalo and presenting bills of purchase as proof.
Hindu militant mobs regularly attack Muslims over baseless accusations of committing crimes. These mobs, also known as cow vigilantes, assault and often lynch Muslims accused of transporting cattle or consuming beef.
Former BJP leader urges Hindus to boycott, take up arms against Muslims
While speaking at an event, former BJP lawmaker Vikram Saini delivered a hate speech targeting Muslims and urged Hindus to take up arms. The event was organised by a Hindu supremacist group, marking the first anniversary of the Ram Temple consecration.
In his speech, he said, “Do not give jobs to Mullahs (a derogatory term used for Muslims) in your shops.” Addressing Hindu shopkeepers, he urged, “Pay a Hindu boy 15,000 rupees instead of 10,000 and keep four spade sticks and two boxes full of stones at your shops.” He further stated that Muslims belong in Pakistan and India is not for Muslims and Hindus must be ready with weapons to defend themselves when threatened.
