Scrap workers attacked over false allegations of being Bangladeshi, Rohingya

In the capital city of Delhi, Hindu extremists attacked scrap collectors, falsely accusing them of being Bangladeshi immigrants or Rohingya refugees. The attack was led by Hindu supremacist leader Daksh Chaudhary, who claimed that the attacks were in retaliation for the alleged targeting of Hindus in Bangladesh – allegations that were largely spread through fake news by the Hindu right on social media.

After recent political upheaval in Bangladesh, Hindu extremist social media pushed multiple fake claims about attacks against members of the Hindu community in Bangladesh, to encourage hatred and violence against Indian Muslims.

The march, demanding an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, was stopped by the police as it headed towards the Israeli Embassy. The protest was attended by social scientists and activists, who urged the Indian government to immediately end all ties with Israel.

Meanwhile, police have taken no action against anti-Palestinian hatred and support for Israel’s genocidal onslaught. Recently, Hindu extremists leader Ashok Paliwal called on Hindus to attack and kill supporters of Palestine.
