Hindu militant group performs Hindu rituals at 800-year-old mosque
In a blatant encroachment on a Muslim place of worship, the Hindu militant group Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) performed Hindu rituals at an 800-year-old mosque in the Hindu supremacist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) -ruled Karnataka state.
A BJP lawmaker, Bharath Shetty, was also present during the ritual.
Last year, a Karnataka court ruled in favor of a demand made by the VHP, allowing the group to conduct a survey of the Malali mosque in Mangaluru city. The VHP has falsely claimed that remnants of a Hindu temple are located in the mosque.
Hindu supremacists across India have sought to take historic mosques away from Muslims by claiming that all Muslim structures were built on the remains of Hindu temples. Utter Prash state’s Shahi Idgah mosque and Gyanvapi mosque, both of which are centuries old, have been subject to the slow takeover by Hindu supremacists.
Muslim meat vendors brutally assaulted by police, Hindu supremacists in Delhi
Seven Hindu supremacist men, including three police personnel, brutally assaulted and robbed two Muslim meat vendors in the capital city of Delhi.
“The duo was confined and thrashed by the accused, who also tried to cut their hands with a knife. The accused also urinated on their faces and threatened to kill them. The policemen also accused them of slaughtering cows and threatened to dump their bodies in a drain after killing them,” the police complaint stated.
As per the medical report, the victims sustained injuries on their limbs and back.
The victims alleged that narcotics were injected into their bodies and they were made to sign a few blank papers by the policemen, the FIR stated. The policemen also extorted Rs 25,500 from the victims.
Instances of Hindu supremacist mob violence against people who sell and consume beef, or cow vigilantism, have increased under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Hindu supremacist BJP.
India tops online anti-Muslim hate posts owing to BJP normalizing Islamophobia: Report
India tops the number of online anti-Muslim hate posts such that 55.12% of Islamophobic tweets now originate in India, owing to the ruling Hindu supremacist BJP’s active normalization of hatred towards Muslims, a report by the Islamic Council of Victoria has found.
The third-largest spike in Islamophobic tweets was observed on February 25, 2020, which was found to be the result of hateful remarks made by leaders of the BJP against Muslim protesters of the discriminatory citizenship law.
According to the report, there were over 3 million Islamophobic posts made on Twitter between 28 August 2019 and 27 August 2021, with nearly 86% of anti-Muslim posts originating in just three places: India, the US, and the UK.
With regard to India, the report stated that the increase of Islamophobic posts can be linked to the anti-Muslim agenda pushed by the BJP government.
The report stated that according to experts, this growth in digital Islamophobia is fuelling a vicious cycle: online expressions of hate incite offline attacks on Muslims, which in turn provoke more online hate.
