Hindu militant monk faces criminal complaint in Switzerland ahead of Davos visit
A London-based law firm filed a criminal report with the Office of the Swiss Federal Prosecutor against the Hindu extremist leader and militant monk Yogi Adityanath, who was earlier supposed to attend the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, this week.
Adityanath is the current Chief Minister of the Uttar Pradesh state, which is governed by the Hindu supremacist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The London-based law firm Guernica 37 filed a criminal complaint under the principle of universal jurisdiction for crimes against humanity committed between December 2019 and January 2020 in the state under his watch.
“Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath is reported to have ordered the false imprisonment, torture and murder of civilians between December 2019 and January 2020 in the state of Uttar Pradesh to suppress protests against the adoption of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in India,” the press readout claims.
During the anti-CAA protests in December 2019, the UP police killed 22 Muslim protestors, tortured at least 117, and arbitrarily detained 307. The criminal complaint argues that as the Chief Minister and Home Minister, Yogi Adityanath, the final executive authority in the state of UP over police conduct, also failed to investigate and prosecute the crimes.
Despite being an Indian State official, the Chief Minister does not enjoy diplomatic immunity for these crimes.
Muslim student assaulted by extremist Hindu mob for talking to Hindu woman
A group of Hindu Jagran Manch (HJS) goons assaulted a Muslim student in BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh state for talking to his female classmate, who is Hindu.
Members of the Hindu supremacist outfit Hindu Jagaran Manch abused and brutally thrashed the Muslim student, Shahbaz with canes and threatened him not to talk to the girl again.
Shahbaz had lodged a police complaint against the Hindu extremists for assaulting him.
But within days, the HJS goons forced the girl and her family to lodge a false molestation case against him.
However, the police are yet to take any action despite the preparators being well-known criminals who target inter-faith friends and couples.
Three Muslims, including an Islamic seminary teacher arrested on false charges
Police in BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh state arrested three Muslims on false charges of running a “religious conversion racket.”
One of the arrested men is a teacher at an Islamic seminary, while the other two are converts to Islam.
The “anti-conversion” bill passed by the Hindu supremacist Uttar Pradesh government, was widely criticized by religious minorities and rights groups as it could be weaponized by officials and Hindu supremacist groups to harass, assault, and persecute Muslims. Uttar Pradesh is one of several states across India that have anti-conversion laws in place.
