Indian Muslim Council – USA (http://www.imc-usa.org), an advocacy group dedicated to promoting pluralism in India and the US, condemned the explosions that damaged a railway station and a Hindu temple in Varanasi and is deeply saddened by the loss of innocent lives. Khaleel UrRahman, IMC-USA’s Secretary General, denounced the terrorists behind the bombings saying, "Such heinous acts of violence can never be justified by any cause. We extend our sincere condolences to the families of the men, women and children who were killed. These innocent civilians were going about their lives and engaged in worship and spritual rituals. Our deepest sympathies are with the families who will be mourning their irreparable losses."
According to initial news reports, on Tuesday three explosions rocked the city of Varanasi located in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Atleast 15 people are feared dead and scores injured.
Rahman urged the government of India to conduct a transparent and thorough investigation and take every possible measure to bring the perpetrators to justice. Rahman also stated that IMC-USA is asking the government of India to provide prompt and adequate compensation to the victims and their families.
