Indian American Muslim Council (IAMC) is thrilled to announce the shortlist across five categories of the first-ever Human Rights & Religious Freedom Journalism Awards-2022 (HRRF). The shortlist, which was announced on Sunday, June 5 has created a lot of buzz among journalists in India.
The idea to constitute the HRRF Journalism Awards was conceived last year during the IAMC annual retreat in Chicago to honour, recognize and highlight journalism that accentuates the challenges faced by the religious minorities undergoing immense persecution in India. We were able to implement the project within six months.
This year, we received hundreds of entries that delve deeper into the question of human rights and the lived reality of religious minorities and marginalized communities in India.
The quality and diversity of the entries were outstanding and it was tough for our diverse jury members from across the world to choose finalists in each category. But the results are in now.
We will honor the winners across all categories on Sunday, June 19, 2022.
Here is the shortlist:
Best Text Reporting on Human Rights & Religious Freedom
Best Photo Story on Human Rights and Religious Freedom
Best Video Story on Human Rights and Religious Freedom
