Mosques swarmed by Hindu mobs, vandalized during Holi

In Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, a Hindu supremacist mob celebrating Holi swarmed a mosque and blasted anti-Muslim songs outside. The lyrics referenced Hindu extremist campaigns to demolish historic mosques in the cities of Kashi and Mathura: “Ayodhya (site of the now-demolished Babri Masjid) has been decorated, Kashi has been decorated; God bless us, we will decorate Mathura too.”

Meanwhile, in Sambhal, Hindu extremists spray-painted “Jai Shri Ram” on the gates of a mosque and threw colors inside its premises. The vandalism occurred in the wake of nearly a dozen mosques in the area being covered with tarp to deter Hindu supremacist attacks.

Chaudhary claimed that the vulnerable minority groups were “not needed in the constituency” and urged local Hindus to inform him if they “suspected” anyone of being a Bangladeshi immigrant or Rohingya refugee.
