Muslim man killed after man threw gunpowder-filled iron rod at him on Diwali
A Muslim man died after a man, Pradeep, threw an iron rod filled with gunpowder at him during Diwali celebrations in Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-ruled Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad. The victim, Afzal, was severely injured by the resulting blast and died soon after the impact.
The police have claimed that the incident was just an accident and registered a case of culpable homicide against the accused, Pradeep, who is currently absconding.
Violent cow vigilantes who thrashed Muslim men garlanded upon release from jail
A group of Hindu extremist cow vigilantes who were arrested for brutally beating Muslim men in Doddaballapur, Karnataka have received bail and were garlanded upon their release from jail.
In September, the extremist mob intercepted four trucks and a car that were allegedly transporting beef, evicted the Muslim men in the car, and set it on fire. They then humiliated the Muslim men by forcibly parading them carrying the upper parts of the butchered animals on their heads, while they raised Hindu extremist slogans and took videos.
Pro-Israel rallies by far-right Hindus given free hand by officials
Amid Israel’s ongoing genocide of Palestinians, hundreds of far-right Hindus organized a pro-Israel rally in Pune, Maharashtra, holding up a banner that read “Bharat (India) Supports Israel End Terror.” Such rallies have faced no legal action for openly supporting and praising Israel despite the genocidal levels of violence against civilians. Court grants bail to soldier convicted of killing 3 Muslims in fake encounter in Kashmir
An army court suspended the life sentence and granted bail to an Indian army major, Bhoopendera Singh, who was involved in a staged encounter in Kashmir that led to the death of three Muslim laborers.
During the encounter on July 18, 2020, three men, Imtiyaz Ahmed (20), Abrar Ahmed (25), and Mohammed Ibrar (16), were shot dead in Shopian district and were labeled as “terrorists.” The encounter was later found to be staged and Singh was convicted of murder.
