Muslim men beaten in Maharashtra, forced to say Jai Sri Ram

In two separate incidents, Hindu extremist mobs assaulted Muslim men while forcing them to chant the Hindu supremacist warcry “Jai Sri Ram” in Parbhani, Maharashtra. 

Recently, in Kankavli, a Muslim man, Asif, was also beaten by a Hindu extremist mob who forced him to chant “Jai Sri Ram.” After he filed a complaint with the police, a mob of about 200 Hindu extremists attacked his home and beat him again. 

Hindu militants target Christians over allegations of forced conversion

In Bharatpur, Rajasthan, members of the Hindu militant group Vishwa Hindu Parishad disrupted an event organized by Christians in a hotel over baseless allegations of forced religious conversions. Police detained nearly 20 people for questioning. 

A similar event occurred in Durg, Chattisgarh, where members of the militant group Bajrang Dal disrupted a gathering organized by a pastor over the same baseless allegations.

Modi government orders take down of news report on murder of civilians in Jammu and Kashmir

Award-winning English magazine The Caravan received an order from India’s Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, a federal body, directing them to take down a story about the Indian army’s brutality against civilians in Jammu and Kashmir.

Titled “Screams from the Army Post,” the piece was a deep dive into the killing of three civilians by Indian soldiers in December 2023. 

Police open fire at alleged “cattle smugglers,” victims sustain bullet wound

In separate incidents in BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh’s Jaunpur and Ghaziabad, police fired at two alleged “cattle smugglers,” who sustained bullet injuries in their legs. 

The incident is the latest in an ongoing trend of violent attacks against predominantly Muslim cattle traders by law enforcement. Over the last month, multiple instances of injuries have occurred due to police firing.

BJP lawmaker, far-right Hindu leaders continue to deliver hate speeches in Maharashtra

In Jalna, Maharashtra, prominent Hindu supremacists Harsha Thakur leader Dhananjay Desai delivered a hate speeches against Muslims. In Nashik, Hindu supremacist news editor Suresh Chavhanke gave a speech using anti-Muslim slurs and called for boycotting Muslim barbers. 

BJP lawmaker Nitesh Rane also delivered anti-Muslim hate speeches, threatening violence against Muslims of Malegaon city. Far-right influencer Kajal Hindustani peddled anti-Muslim conspiracy theories and targeted Rohingya refugees.
