Police charge Muslims with sticks to keep them from voting in Uttar Pradesh

Muslims in Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-ruled Uttar Pradesh’s Amethi, a key constituency in India’s ongoing elections, have reported that police charged at them with sticks to prevent them from voting. 

A similar incident of Muslim voter suppression was reported in Sambhal district, where a viral video was filmed showing police assaulting and chasing Muslim voters away from the polls. 

Hindu extremists beat Dalit in front of family for not voting for BJP 

Hindu extremist workers of the BJP beat a Dalit man in front of his family in Uttar Pradesh’s Kaushambi after learning he did not vote for the BJP. A video of the incident shows the man being attacked by a BJP worker in a home before other family members intervene. 

UP Chief Minister says election is between worshippers of Ram and “infiltrators”

Senior BJP leader and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath declared during a campaign speech that the ongoing elections are between Hindus, whom he referred to as “worshippers of Ram”, and Muslims, whom he called “anti-nationals and traitors to the nation.”
