Teacher assaults Muslim minor and attacks her brother with knife in Uttar Pradesh

In Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-ruled Uttar Pradesh’s Barabanki, Ajay Sharma, a school teacher, beat a 5th grade Muslim student for not doing her homework. When the girl’s brother confronted Sharma, the teacher attacked him with a knife while calling his victim anti-Muslim slurs.

Hindu militants protest Muslims offering Friday prayers in Uttarakhand

In BJP-ruled Uttarakhand’s Dehradun, Hindu militants from the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal held a protest against Muslims offering Friday prayers, during which the extremists delivered anti-Muslim hate speeches over loudspeakers and called Muslims “jihadis.” Following their complaints, the police have stopped the Friday prayers in the area.

Amid the increasing criminalization of Muslim symbols and practices by the BJP government, Muslims across India have faced criminal charges for offering prayers in public and private spaces.

Christians arrested after BJP leader raids prayer meeting 

In Chhattisgarh’s Raigarh, police officials arrested two Christians after BJP leader Anshu Tuteja raided a prayer meeting at a Christian household, harassing the attendees and accusing them of forcibly converting Hindus to Christianity. 

In Uttarakhand’s Dehradun, Hindu militants from the Bajrang Dal disrupted a Christian religious procession, harassing the participants over similar allegations.
