UP: Muslims set up half-a-dozen camps for kanwarias in Purkazi, win hearts
This Shravan, the city, which is synonymous with the 2013 communal riots, is witnessing signs of change. Among the numerous temporary camps for kanwarias set up along their pilgrimage route, are half-a-dozen camps set up by Muslims, serving devotees of Lord Shiva with food, comfort and aid.
Under banners of various social organisations like Paigham-e-Insaniyat, Khudai Khidmatgar, Secular Front, Paryatan, Samajik Welfare Society, etc, Muslims have stepped up to provide facilities like medicine and food for the pilgrims. Even the Purkazi nagar panchayat chairman Zaheer Faruqi has set up a camp for kanwariyas in Purkazi town.
Speaking to TOI, Asad Faruqi of Paryatan, who has been serving pilgrims for the last five days, said, “Muzaffarnagar’s Muslims respect every religion and want to spread a message of love and peace.” Paigham-e-Insaniyat has set up their camp in the Muslim-majority area Minakshi Chowk.…
