Building Hindu-Muslim Unity in the Diaspora ft. Ria Chakrabarty (February 6, 2026)

As salamu alaykum,

Hindu-Muslim unity is no abstract concept – it’s been a historical reality for centuries, resulting in generations of Hindus and Muslims engaging in cultural exchange, shared celebration, and collective resistance. Following the rise of Hindutva in India, however, US-based Hindu supremacist groups have worked to put a wedge between Hindus and other communities – and in particular, to paint Muslims as the enemy.

And still, in the face of these dividing forces, people throughout the diaspora persist in building Hindu-Muslim unity – quietly and boldly, in everyday acts and collective efforts alike.

In this special episode of Beyond the Taj, Safa Ahmed of Indian American Muslim Council (IAMC) and Ria Chakrabarty of Hindus for Human Rights (HfHR) engage in an honest conversation about their experiences with both division and solidarity in the Indian American diaspora, and discuss how Hindus and Muslims can combat the supremacist forces that seek to drive our communities apart.
