IMC-USA requests aid for Tsunami victims in South Asia

Indian Muslim Council-USA, an advocacy group working towards protecting and promoting the pluralist and tolerant values of the Indian society, urges all people including Muslims and the members of the Indian community residing in USA to offer humanitarian assistance for the victims of tsunamis in southern Asia.
IMC-USA sends its condolences to the families of the victims of the earthquake and tsunami, and appeals to people of all faiths to pray for those suffering from this disaster. Shaikh Ubaid, the President of IMC-USA, has expressed deep sorrow over this tragedy adding “We pray for the speedy recovery of all the injured and the aggrieved”. He also stated, “We request all people of conscience to provide financial assistance to help in the immediate relief efforts and the subsequent rehabilitation efforts. This is by far the biggest natural disaster in recent times and all of us need to contribute generously in whatever ways we can to help provide relief”. IMC-USA’s volunteers are involved in the collection of relief aid in their local communities.
The casualty count in this disaster is approaching the 100,000 mark. The sea surges triggered by the massive undersea earthquake have also displaced millions. The disaster zone, extending from Indonesia to Africa, is vulnerable to outbreaks of diseases that could double the death toll.
IMC-USA will continue to be in the forefront of supporting the relief organizations working in India and other countries. IMC-USA has channeled volunteers and other contributions towards relief through well-known organizations like Indian Muslim Relief Committee (IMRC), Association for India’s Development, Inc. (AID) and Association of Indian Muslims of America (AIM) that are already working in the field providing much-needed succor. IMC-USA exhorts everyone to join in raising funds for these and other relief organizations.
