Muslim man beaten by lawyers in court over love jihad allegations

In Rajasthan’s Vijaynagar, former councilor Hakim Qureshi, arrested in a “love jihad” case following a campaign by Hindu supremacist groups, was beaten by lawyers inside the Ajmer court premises. Videos of the attack show lawyers pulling Qureshi’s hair and punching him in front of police.

Accusations of “love jihad,” a debunked anti-Muslim conspiracy theory that alleges Muslim men seduce Hindu women to convert them to Islam, have led to a surge in violence against Muslim men.

Hindu extremist student group attacks fellow students, university staff for serving non-veg food

Members of a Hindu extremist student group, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), attacked students and mess hall staff at New Delhi’s South Asian University over the serving of non-vegetarian food. ABVP leaders had objected to non-vegetarian meals being served during a Hindu holiday, despite the staff maintaining that they would not give in to the group’s pressure. In the violent altercation that followed, women were also attacked by ABVP members.

Hindu militants threaten Christian family

Members of the Hindu militant group Bajrang Dal harassed and threatened a Christian man and his family for speaking about their faith and holding prayer meetings, ordering them to vacate the area. One attacker threatened the family with violence, pressured them to convert to Hinduism, and declared allegiance to Nathruam Godse, the Hindu supremacist assassin of Mahatma Gandhi.
