Yati Narsinghanad, Organizer Of Event That Called For Muslims’ Genocide, Gets Hero’s Welcome After Release From Jail

Hindu extremist leader Yati Narsinghanad received a hero’s welcome after being released from judicial custody, where he had spent a month behind bars for making vitriolic anti-Muslim hate speeches and supporting other extremists who called for a genocide of two million Muslims.

After his release, he was received like a homecoming hero by his supporters, garlanded with flowers by Hindu supremacists amid chants of “Jai Sri Ram” and “Har Har Mahadev.”

A known associate of anti-Muslim Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders, Narsinghanad is known for regularly giving hate speeches against Muslims and using derogatory remarks against women. He was granted bail by a local court on 7 February in relation to the hate speech case, despite the fact that he is a highly influential Hindu extremist who poses a clear threat to the safety of Indian Muslims.

Hijab Is Not An Essential Religious Practice In Islam, Says Hindu Advocate General For Karnataka State

The advocate general on behalf of Karnataka state, Prabhuling Navadgi, told the High Court that the hijab is not an essential religious practice of Islam. Navadgi is a Hindu man, whose bigoted statement reveals a complete disregard for the opinions of Muslim women themselves, as well as a lack of understanding of the Islamic faith.

“The attack that the [government order] is irrational or is discriminatory against Muslim women is baseless,” Navadgi told the High Court, defending the court’s interim order banning all religious dress in schools until a final verdict is reached.

Meanwhile, reports and videos from multiple different schools across Karnataka state reveal the disturbing treatment of Muslim hijabi students and teachers at the hands of Hindu extremist faculty and law enforcement. In the latest attempt to repress Muslim women, the principal of Empress College of Tumakuru city filed a police report against around 20 Muslim students who wore the hijab to school in defiance of the Karnataka High Court’s unconstitutional ban on religious dress.

Viral videos on Instagram reveal the ongoing humiliation and harassment Muslim women and girls are suffering. One video shows a group of Muslim students being yelled at by a male Hindu nationalist faculty member, who told the young girls, “Shut your mouth” and threatened to call the police to arrest them for wearing the hijab. Another video shows a Muslim hijabi teacher breaking down in tears as she pleaded with security guards to allow her into the school, who refused despite the fact that the court order only applies to students in uniform.

Bella Hadid Slams India For Discriminatory Hijab Ban, NZ Boxer Sonny Bill Williams Posts Solidarity Video

Internationally acclaimed supermodel Bella Hadid posted a thread on her Instagram account, which has 49.9 million followers, in which she slammed India and other countries around the world that have either banned or are attempting to ban the hijab. The thread included a screenshot of an article discussing India’s hijab ban in schools.

“I urge France, India, Quebec, Belgium, and any other countries in the world who are discriminatory against Muslim women, to rethink what decisions you have made or are trying to make in the future about a body that is not yours. It’s not your job to tell women whether or not they can STUDY or PLAY SPORTS, ESPECIALLY when it is pertaining to their faith and safety,” Hadid wrote.

Elaborating on the opportunities Muslim women are robbed of when they wear hijab, she added, “It’s ridiculous and really shows how Islamophobic the world is without even acknowledging it… The egocentrics of a man to think for even for one second, that they have enough validity to make decisions for a woman in 2022, are not only laughable but actually sick in the head.”

New Zealand boxer Sonny Bill Williams also expressed his solidarity with Indian Muslim women in a video he posted to Twitter

“Just a quick message of support to my sisters out there who are struggling with the hijab at the moment, and particularly in India… Yes, these thugs may rip the headscarf off, but they will never rip Islam or Allah from your hearts. So stay strong sisters,” he said.

UP Hindu Extremist Leader Threaten Muslims, Voters Make Anti-Muslim Hateful Comments

Anti-Muslim vitriol during Uttar Pradesh state’s ongoing election campaigns have become commonplace, as captured in a number of viral videos. In one video, BJP leader Mayankeshwar Singh delivered an anti-Muslim hate speech threatening Muslims, saying, “If Hindus wake up, we will pluck out your (Muslims’) beards and make a ponytail (Hindu symbol) out of it.” The crowd around him can be heard chanting “Jai Shri Ram,” a Hindu religious slogan that is now commonly used by extremists to intimidate and harass Muslims.

Singh further threatened Muslims by saying, “If you (Muslims) want to live in India, you will have to say Radhe-Radhe (Hindu Religious chant) or else, go to Pakistan like those who went there at the time of partition.”

Supporters of BJP leaders are often heard parroting the same forms of hate speech. In another viral video from Uttar Pradesh, one BJP supporter told a reporter, “I believe in Hindutva, and I will support them [BJP]… We are Hindu supporters and we are allergic towards Muslims.”

Hindutva is a Hindu supremacist political ideology espoused by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP, which holds that India should be a Hindu nation, and that non-Hindu Indians should either be treated as second-class citizens or subjected to mass violence.
