“UP Epicentre Of Politics Of Hate”: 104 Ex-IAS Officers To Yogi Adityanath

The Uttar Pradesh government’s controversial anti-conversion ordinance has transformed the state into “the epicentre of politics of hate, division and bigotry”, a letter signed by 104 former IAS officers, including former National Security Adviser Shivshankar Menon, former Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao and former Adviser to the Prime Minister TKA Nair, and released Tuesday said. Demanding that the “illegal ordinance be withdrawn forthwith”, the signatories also said all politicians, including the Chief Minister, need to “re-educate yourselves about the Constitution which you… have sworn to uphold”. “… UP, once known as the cradle of the Ganga-Jamuna civilisation, has become the epicentre of the politics of hate, division and bigotry, and institutions of governance are now steeped in communal poison,” the letter said….

Arnab Goswami Bribed Ex BARC Chief in Lakhs to Manipulate TRPs: Mumbai Police

Republic TV’s editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami paid senior officials at BARC, the TV ratings agency, “lakhs” of rupees so that they would fudge his channel’s rating, the Mumbai police has alleged. Those Goswami allegedly paid off include BARC’s former CEO Partho Dasgupta. Dasgupta was arrested last week. The Mumbai police on Monday told a local court that he had, in alleged connivance with another ex-senior BARC official and Goswami, manipulated the television rating points (TRP) of Republic TV and its Hindi arm…. Romil Ramgarhia, former BARC COO, also allegedly connived with Dasgupta for manipulation of TRP of certain news channels, the police claimed….

UP: ABVP members allegedly threaten to break Jain idol inside Baghpat college

The administration of Digambar Jain College in Baghpat district of Uttar Pradesh has accused members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, the student wing of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, of threatening to demolish an idol and temple of a Jain goddess installed inside the campus, The Hindu reported on Thursday. A widely shared video on social media showed a group of men, wearing saffron scarves with ABVP written on them. The group can be seen at the entrance of the temple even as police personnel tried to reason with them. They can be heard shouting “Vidyarthi Parishad zindabad” and “Bharat Mata ki jai”. The members of the Hindutva group allegedly demanded that the idol be removed, and replaced with the statue of Saraswati, the Hindu deity of learning….
