No, This Is Not A Celebration In Balochistan For BJP
A video purporting to show celebrations in Balochistan after the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) landslide victory in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections in India is false. The video was shot in Anantnag, Jammu and Kashmir and shows locals accompanying BJP candidate Sofi Yousuf on his way to file his nomination papers.
A similar video was tweeted by the account BJP Jammu & Kashmir – a verified handle- on March 31, 2019. The text of the tweet states, “amid sloganeering BJP’s Anantnag Parliamentary Constituency candidate Sh. Sofi Yousuf accompanied by thousand of supporters including women folk files nomination paper in Anantnag.”
However, another clip from the same rally is now being shared with a misleading caption that sarcastically suggests the BJP has opened a branch in Pakistan. The misleading caption translates to, “BJP has opened its first branch in Pakistan. In India, often Indian traitors wave Pakistani flags, but now (I) feel happy seeing this sight.”…
