Muslim student with disability attacked by far-right Hindu students
In the capital city of Delhi, Muslim student leader Farooque Alam, who is disabled, was subjected to a brutal beating at the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) by the members of the student wing of the violent Hindu supremacist paramilitary group Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). A senior warden of the university’s hostel, where Alam was living, also participated in the assault. The attack left Alam struggling to breathe, after which he fell unconscious and was rushed to the hospital.
BJP lawmaker in Maharashtra threatens repeat of Babri mosque demolition
In Maharashtra’s Pune, BJP lawmaker Mahesh Kisanrao Landge delivered an anti-Muslim hate speech threatening a repeat of the Babri mosque demolition of 1992, and labeling Muslim localities in Pune as “terrorist” hubs. BJP lawmaker Nitesh Rane also delivered hate speeches targeting Muslims, threatened violence, and promised far-right extremists impunity from police cases.
Serial hatemonger Raja Singh calls for beheading Muslims in Haryana
BJP lawmaker and serial hatemonger T. Raja Singh called for Muslims to be beheaded during an event in Haryana state, which remains tense after a recent outbreak of Hindu mob violence against Muslims. Singh also called for brutal anti-Muslim violence and praised the killing of Muslims involved in cattle trade.
Earlier this year, Singh participated in rallies organized by Hindu militant organizations across India and made calls to subjugate and boycott Muslims. He continues to violate his conditions for bail by making hate speeches in public.
Hindu extremist leader delivers hate speech against Muslims, Christians
In Karnataka’s Bengaluru, serial hatemonger Pramod Muthalik, the leader of the Hindu supremacist group Sri Ram Sena, delivered hate speech targeting Muslims and Christians. Recently, in Doddaballapura, he delivered hate speeches against Muslims and made threats against people involved in interfaith marriages.
